Automation & Smart Systems
Motorised curtains and blinds that keep working.
Somfy, Bolt and Dooya motors on four protocols: RTS, wired WT, RS485 and Matter. Specified, installed and commissioned by the team that makes the curtains.
Why it matters
Anyone can sell a motor. Fewer can service one in year four.
Motorised window treatments fail for boring reasons: the wrong protocol was chosen for the building, the installer never handed over the programming, or the brand disappeared from the market and no spare exists.
We carry three brands we trust, Somfy, Bolt and Dooya, on four well-supported protocols. We hold spares locally and hand over the remote pairing and limit settings in writing. If something drifts in three years, we can still fix it.

Protocols
Four ways to drive a motor, and when each is right.
The protocol is chosen by the building, not by preference. This is the honest version of that decision.
| Protocol | Type | Best suited to | Control |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTS | Radio frequency | Retrofit in a finished home, no chasing walls or new cabling | Handheld remote, wall transmitter, app via a hub |
| WT (wired) | Hard-wired | New build and renovation where power can be run to the track | Wall switch, dry contact, hub or controller |
| RS485 | Wired bus | Hotels, offices and any building with a BMS or central control | Central controller, BMS integration, addressable per motor |
| Matter | Open smart-home standard | Clients who want their own smart home to own the blinds | Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, natively |
Already living there?
RTS or a battery tubular motor. No cable to run, no ceiling to open, no repainting. A villa full of curtains can be motorised over a couple of days without the family moving out.
Still at first fix?
Wired WT or RS485, with power at every track position. Cheaper per point, no batteries to replace ever, and the control layer can be as simple or as central as the project needs.
Retrofitting an existing home, or specifying a new build? Both start the same way.
Brands we carry
Three brands, chosen and stood behind.
We do not carry whatever is cheapest that quarter. These are the motors we install, stock spares for, and are still able to service years later.
The specified standard
The reference brand in window automation, and the one written into most serious specifications. Full RTS and wired ranges, deep integration options, and a global spares chain behind it. If a consultant has named a motor, it usually says Somfy.
German technology, made with care
Built on German motor technology and finished with the kind of attention that shows in how quietly a blind runs on its thousandth cycle rather than its first. Bolt covers the same core protocols as the premium names, at a price that makes motorising a whole home realistic rather than aspirational, without cutting the corners that decide whether a motor is still working in year five.

Integration
Works with the system you already have.
- Voice: Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple Home via Matter or a bridge.
- Scenes and schedules: open at sunrise, close at the hottest part of the afternoon.
- Sun & wind sensors for west-facing glass and outdoor shading.
- BMS & central control over RS485 for hotels, offices and towers.
- Dry contact inputs where a third-party controller drives the motor directly.
